Job Description This is a senior role, reporting in to the Commercial Manager.
Responsible for the leadership of financial accounting and taxation services provided on a consolidated basis to the Macraes & Waihi Operations.
The role also includes management of the Accounts Payable and Payroll functions for New Zealand.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities Lead the delivery of the financial accounting requirements for all New Zealand activities including the review and sign-off of the statutory financial consolidation package for submission to Head Office on a timely basis. Lead the tax compliance and structuring requirements for all New Zealand activities including finalising a tax strategy based on a rigorous assessment of external advice. Provide a first point of contact for the auditors for all audit issues pertaining to New Zealand activities.
Develop for approval New Zealand specific accounting policies and procedures relevant to the activities carried out by the Financial Services Group.
At the direction of the Group Treasurer manage the bank account structure and the investment of cash.
Calculate royalty calculations and manage returns.
Manage the effective operation of the Accounts Payable and Payroll functions.
Ensure the maintenance of appropriate databases and models pertaining to financial reporting including asset registers, Pronto database and General Ledger.
Liaise and manage the relationship with the Waihi and Macraes Management Accounting functions.
Qualifications Bachelor of Commerce in Accountancy. Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants or equivalent experience Full and Current Driver Licence.
Minimum 10 years financial and commercial experience within a listed company environment.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and/or previous experience in an extractive industry would be highly regarded.
