About this role Mo tenei turanga 6 months fixed term Wellington-based. The Senior Financial Accountant role is a key position responsible for financial reporting and compliance to ensure that the Ministry's financial transactions and obligations are accurately reported. This role involves interacting with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and provides technical accounting for school property assets, monthly balance sheet reconciliation, and capital financial report preparation.
Additionally, you will be tasked with developing effective management information systems to support planning, decision-making, and monitoring processes.
Strong financial expertise and the ability to interpret information are essential to support both the Ministry's operational and external accountabilities within the property and infrastructure functions.
Salary range: $99,496 - $120,690 per annum + 3% KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you Mohou ake To be successful in the role, you'll need a working understanding and knowledge of fixed assets and capital expenditure accounting within a large capital intensive organisation along with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. You will also offer:
A Chartered Accountant Qualification (or equivalent) with at least three years of post qualification experience. Experience in fixed assets and capital expenditure accounting. Strong knowledge of the Public Finance Act and International Accounting Standards. Demonstrated experience in analysing technical issues and making sound business decisions. Proven experience managing relationships and consultations with a range of stakeholders. The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
