The opportunity: As a Senior Financial Accountant, you'll play a pivotal role in leading our financial reporting function. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting, this position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your technical expertise, leadership skills, and passion for driving process improvements.
Key responsibilities include: Supporting the Financial Reporting team to meet objectives and deadlinesLeading month-end close activities, including preparing and reviewing journals, analysing transactions and providing commentary, reviewing reconciliations, and performing internal controlsPreparing and reviewing statutory financial reports, including financial statements, climate statements, RBNZ returns, and moreCollaborating with internal and external auditorsMonitoring accounting policies and providing timely technical adviceManaging risk arising from business and process changes and driving automation and efficiency improvementsBuilding strong relationships across the business and with AIA Group counterparts.Ideally, you'll bring: 5+ years in a similar accounting role, preferably within financial services, with SAP GL exposureStrong knowledge of financial reporting standards, regulatory requirements, and accounting policiesProven ability to manage competing priorities and influence stakeholders at all levelsAn analytical mindset with a track record of implementing process improvementsAttention to detail and commitment to accuracyAssociate Chartered Accountant / Chartered Accountant qualification (or equivalent) with a tertiary degree in accounting or finance.Why choose AIA?
