Based at our Penrose head office, this role is at the core of our Finance team, making key contributions to UCG's financial strategy and compliance. From ensuring statutory regulations are met to delivering insightful management reporting, payroll oversight, budgeting, and forecasting, you'll play a vital role in keeping our financial operations seamless and aligned with business goals. If you're a detail-oriented professional who thrives on making an impact and enjoys shaping financial success, we'd love to have you on board!Ko to mahi – What you will doMaintain the accounting system and associated procedures, including general ledger operations and control, chart of accounts maintenance, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, the fixed asset register, and purchase order functions.Prepare monthly management reports, including analysis of actual financial results against budget.Prepare financial information to comply with annual reporting requirements and liaise with external auditors.Conduct all activities in compliance with relevant taxation, financial statutory, and government policy requirements.Balance Sheet reconciliation.Verify the NZ and Australian payroll information from Senior Payroll Officer for accuracy of information and to ensure that it complies with all company policies and legislative requirements.Perform the payroll function for the company in the absence of the Senior Payroll Officer.Verification of PAYE.Verification and filing of GST.Verification and filing of FBT.Supervision of all accounts payable to ensure compliance with approvals and company policies.Conduct appropriate quality checks of the offshore team member's work to ensure their work meets the required standards.Monitor and escalate quality, productivity, performance, or other issues of offshore team members to the relevant Host Manager and/or Host Employee.Na tou rourou - What you will bringDegree in Financial Accounting.CA or CPA Qualification.At least 5 years of experience in managing accounting systems and associated procedures in a commercial entity (or capability of an equitable level).Good written and verbal communication.Previous proven record in management accounting, budgeting and forecasting.Knowledge and understanding of accounting standards, auditing and internal controls.Knowledge of the business legislative requirement by the NZ Government, specifically Income tax, GST and FBT.Intermediate to high level experience with Microsoft Excel.We are a passionate, diverse and inclusive team where to 'Empower By Creating Better Connections' is our stated purpose.
