Senior Finance Business Partner at Ministry for Primary Industries, Wellington City Role Type:Permanent Full-Time
Location:Wellington
Salary Band: $136,214 - $159,525 - $182,836 depending on skills & experience
As a Senior Finance Business Partner, you will lead the strategic financial management and provide decision support to the Deputy Director-General and Directors within your portfolio.
You will represent the Finance team on a range of organisational initiatives and in governance groups which requires financial thought leadership and expertise.
The key accountabilities of this position include:
Providing senior technical expertise and advice to inform future decision making, providing financial support and assurance for investment cases in the external Government budget cycle submissionsLeading the development and implementation of financial management strategyLeading medium and long term financial advice, investment planning, and reportingLeading engagement with relevant governance groups for major programmesResearching, analysing, and presenting historical, current, and future projected financial information for use in planning, reporting and operational decision making for proposed budget initiatives and investment casesSupporting DDGs and Directors to evaluate investment opportunities using financial modelling and support advice to MPI's Investment and Finance Committee and other governance boards.Working with the Business Accountants and Cost Recovery to facilitate a seamless business planning, budgeting, and reporting process.Mentoring and coaching Business Accountants in their portfolio and other less experienced business partners to develop talent and build the people capability required to deliver outcomes.To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience in financial management within a large and complex environments, ideally within the public sector. You will have advanced strategic ability an experience applying commercial principles and concepts to business and financial management strategies.
Specifically, your experience will include:
Using financial modelling and analysis to identify risks and translate these into management actionsUnderstanding of business planning, budgetary processes and systems relating to business performance, reporting and governanceCommunicating the "big picture" and being prepared to deliver and analyse the detailAnalysing technical issues and making business decisions with financial impactImportantly, you will also have the ability to influence and constructively challenge others, have excellent written an verbal communication skills, proven negotiation skills, and be able to build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders.
The Finance Business Partner team provides business and financial information and advice to inform strategic and investment decision making to support our portfolios in maximising the use of resources available, driving improved outcomes and value.
