Senior Finance Business Partner

We are looking for two Senior Finance Business Partners to join a great team within the Financial Advisory department: one on a fixed term basis until June 2025 and one in a permanent capacity. In this role, you will be a trusted advisor working in the business supporting decision-making to improve financial performance.As a Senior Finance Business Partner, you will ensure financial structures are aligned to deliver organisational strategies and outcomes within Auckland Council by:Leading the Annual and Long-Term planning process.Budgeting and forecasting processes for the assigned departments and/or business units.Delivering accurate and timely reporting and analysis of financial information.Providing performance insights that support decision-making to improve financial performance results.You can expect to focus on:Data analysing, cleansing and interpreting data and promoting financially prudent business decisions.Reviewing business cases, building financial scenario modelling, and providing a commercial lens on contracts.Improving data quality and budget data inputted into the system.Revenue and expenditure trend analysis.Investigating ways to improve financial efficiencies within your business area.Communicating financial information to people from all walks of life, who are often non-financial.Improving alignment of asset data to ensure actuals and budget are better aligned to ensure the Local Boards can make better decisions within their delegation.This position requires experience in similar business partnering positions, ideally from within large and complex organisations. Experience with our local government would be advantageous.You will ideally have some exposure to Contracts Management and Asset Management Planning (both from Asset and capital planning perspectives). Your understanding of capital delivery, building, and grounds maintenance would be advantageous.We will be looking for experience in:Thorough understanding of management accounting principles and techniques including experience in planning, budgeting, and forecasting.Reviewing and preparing month-end financial results, updating forecasts, and preparation of annual budgets.Understanding and application of internal and external business drivers.Working with SAP.A degree in Finance, Commerce, or Business Management and a Professional registration with CA or similar is a must.In return for your hard work, you can expect a flexible and supportive work environment.If you have the required experience, we want to hear from you!The salary range for these roles is $125k-$138k based on experience.Auckland Council is an equal opportunity employer (EOE) and we are committed to providing a working environment that embraces and values diversity and inclusion.
