Sadly our valued current senior farm assistant is leaving us. To fill the position we require someone with a minimum of 4 years dairy farming experience who is capable in all areas of dairy farming. You must be able to milk independently in a calm manner, can pick up animal health issues and be able to problem solve.
With mating around the corner it would be ideal to have this position filled prior to then 20/10.
We milk 750 cows through a 60 Bail De Laval Rotary with two herds on twice a day achieving good results with production and SCC.
The farm is located 10 minutes north of Oamaru. We are gradually installing fixed grid with klines surrounding three pivots, so experience moving klines would be ideal but not essential.
Looking after the cows is vital, plus respecting and looking after machinery.
We currently have a 8/2 and 8/3 roster, with plenty of sleep ins.
