Our staff and students can connect with our Rainbow and Women in Science networks, Parenting support, our Waipapa Marae, and our flagship Tuakana Maori and Pacific support programme.Job DescriptionWe're looking for a self-motivated person with a strong grounding in university research environments, experience with research software or computational languages (e.g., Python, R), and digital data and computational skills (e.g., Linux, managing virtual machines, and moving data). You will bring your skills and passion from areas such as domain research, data science and analytics, research management, information and library sciences, or teaching and outreach. Key to success will be having a demonstrable understanding of the research data landscape, a track record of leading projects or services, a genuine desire to work collaboratively to deliver and improve digital research data services, and a willingness to lead and contribute to researcher skills and development.In this role you will proactively engage with the research community - research staff, research postgraduates, and those that support them - across the University, raising awareness and use of modern and emerging research technologies and tools, including CeR services. You will advocate for and enable researchers to manage research data and code following best practices, including reproducibility and the FAIR and CARE data principles, through data consultations and outreach activities at various levels. You will lead engagements at a range of levels, from individual researchers to Faculty meetings or groups of research service providers, to co-design, deliver, and embed services. You will also contribute significantly to the provision of CeR core services, including the organisation and delivery of digital research skills (e.g., considerations when using AI tools) and community building offerings that involve hundreds of participants.Research needs and opportunities are constantly evolving and emerging, so we are looking for people who are willing and able to quickly learn new skills and collaborate effectively. You will need to be an effective communicator and take ownership to deliver results in our open, collegial environment. You will also have a demonstrable passion for research and for supporting researchers.This is a permanent role (37.5 hours per week).Remuneration: $107,500 to $132,700 depending on level of experience.The Centre for eResearch is a University platform providing eResearch capability across Waipapa Taumata Rau | The University of Auckland. Researcher needs are always changing, so the support we offer is constantly evolving to keep pace with emerging needs and opportunities.Minimum RequirementsTo be considered for this role, it is essential that you have a relevant postgraduate qualification or are progressing towards postgraduate qualifications in a Science or IT discipline.5+ years' experience with research data and software development lifecycles.5+ years' experience conducting research or working with researchers and research communities to adopt eResearch practices and/or services.Ability to collaboratively discuss computational and research problems at length.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional documentation for various audiences, and to tailor discussions to the needs of both technical and non-technical research audiences.Proven outstanding organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain excellent attention to detail/accuracy.The University of Auckland is New Zealand's leading university and maintains significant computational, laboratory, and analytic facilities.
