We work collaboratively with iwi, Government, not-for-profits and businesses to achieve outcomes that benefit our community.Te aheinga - The opportunityWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Environmental Officer to join our Strategy and Planning Group. This role is integral in supporting our Environmental Health and Licensing team, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with environmental standards and regulations. You will also serve as a key back-up in the absence of the Environmental Health and Licensing Supervisor.Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate activities to ensure the environmental health and liquor licensing team carry out their duties to deliver on their regulatory responsibilitiesDrive continuous improvement and help maintain regulatory services quality systemEnsure Council bylaw responsibilities are met and enforced appropriately, and that service requests are resolved in a timely mannerActively ensure that good employer obligations and legislative requirements are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislationManage food premises within the district subject to the Food Act 2014 and undertake auditing/verification training as necessaryManage the activities of other licensed premises under the Health Act 1956 through a combination of enforcement, inspection, and educationManage the activities of Alcohol Licensed Premises under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012Respond to complaints regarding noise and ensure compliance with the Resource Management Act 1991 and the District Plan rulesCarry out bylaw enforcementOther LGA activities including administering Council policies, (e.g. Gambling Venue Policy), Liquor BanEnsure legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilledMinimum QualificationsA tertiary qualification in Health Science or equivalent that meets the requirements of the Environmental Health Officers Qualifications Regulations 1993At least three years' experience desirableExperience in Local GovernmentKnowledge of relevant legislationA good knowledge of public health legislation, theory, codes of practiceKnowledge of food safetyAbility to work independently and as part of a teamDriver's licenceHe aha ai a Taranaki? - Why Taranaki?With the stunning Mt Taranaki as a backdrop and the warm iron sands along our coast, it is no wonder Taranaki is one of the best regions in New Zealand and the world.
