Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist - Technical Advisor Remote (home office-based position); eastern United States or Texas preferred within 1 hour of a major airport for frequent travel.

About the Role EHS Support is seeking a Senior Compliance Specialist with expertise in environmental compliance and auditing, particularly Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulations to join our dynamic Business Services Group.
In this role you will be a key technical subject matter expert (SME) and "seller-doer" across all groups in our Company, serving as both a Technical Advisor and Strategic Growth Leader, providing essential guidance and mentorship to project teams and individuals while driving the growth of current and new clients.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities Compliance & Technical Advisor: Prepare multimedia permit applications, plans, and reports, i.e.
air, water, and waste.
Provide compliance support in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations by: Data handling and analysis.
Conducting regulatory research and training.
Interpreting environmental laws and regulations.
Facilitating agency interactions.
Perform on-site environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) compliance support at client facilities including but not limited to: Classification, inventory, and handling of hazardous materials.
Assess regulatory compliance and management systems at the plant and corporate level.
Developing EH&S management training materials.
Traveling to and participating in field activities.
Establish, build, and lead projects (project manager), operations, and business development activities with others in the Company.
Lead environmental compliance audits, individually and as part of client teams.
Develop and manage relationships with existing and new clients (client manager).
Business Development: As a member of our Growth Team, work closely with other growth leaders to ensure business development efforts established by Business Services Group are implemented and yearly sales targets are met.
Define and manage business development outreach objectives and activities with individuals across the Company, including sales goals.
Define, manage, and foster new ideas for strategic growth projects that align with Business Services Groups' overall vision.
Collaborate with managers to steer the use of non-bill time to goals that will assist in the growth of the business.
Work with the Marketing team to develop marketing strategies for clients based on their needs, history, and strong knowledge of industry regulatory trends.
Education Bachelor's degree in science preferred.
Qualifications Subject Matter Expert in RCRA regulations.
15 years of direct experience in environmental compliance programs including: Clean Air Act (CAA).
Clean Water Act (CWA).
RCRA.
Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA).
Environmental due diligence.
Environmental compliance auditing and support.
Related consulting with a foundation in technical and regulatory subject areas.
Thorough understanding of U.S. federal and state environmental regulations.
Experience with Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% to client sites for compliance work, auditing, and business development opportunities (e.g., conferences and meetings).
Strong communication skills with the ability to provide non-technical explanations regarding technical matters, summarize and present information in a clear, concise, and accurate written and verbal format.
Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and addressing their concerns effectively.
Demonstrated ability of leading and conducting environmental compliance audits, assessments, and inspections to determine compliance with federal, state, and local standards as well as company and agency environmental policies and procedures.
Ability to think strategically and conceptually, as well as translate strategy into practical and tactical plans.
Ability to interpret regulations based on context-specific knowledge.
Capable of working outside of standard working hours to achieve client and project goals.
Dependable and ethical leader.
Adaptable communicator at all levels of an organization.
Highly Qualified Candidates Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), ISO 14001 Lead Auditor training, or other environmental management certification (or willingness to obtain certification) is highly desired.
Familiarity with U.S. health, safety, and transportation regulatory programs a plus.
Knowledge of state-specific and international regulations is a plus.
Designated as Environmental Professional (EP) for Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ASTM 1527-21).
Experience with RCRA part B permitting.
