Job DescriptionSenior Engineering Technician & Permit to Work IssuerLooking for a different challenge as a Senior Engineering Technician whereby you can still utilise your skills?Permanent, Full-time opportunitySalary Bracket: NZD $60,000 to $80,000 Base with excellent benefitsHours of Work: 40hrs per weekLocation: Upper Hutt, New ZealandUpskill and growth in an area you're passionate about, whilst being fully supported and encouraged.Join a Trusted Global Leading Animal Health organisationMust be open to shift workThe primary responsibility of the Senior Engineering Technician & Permit to Work Issuer is to support the site by:Responsible for all contractor inductions to site, including assessing hazards and risks associated with contractor work and issuing appropriate permits-to-workPerforming and documenting maintenance and/or instrument calibration and validation and other works within the post-holder's competence to meet maintenance schedulesEnsuring equipment breakdowns are resolved with minimal disruption to the operation using their knowledge and experience to troubleshoot and resolve non-routine problemsProviding input and assistance with executing capital projectsEnsuring all GMP, corporate and legislative compliance requirements are metWorking closely with customers to organise own daily tasks and support production schedulesOf critical importance to the successful execution of this role is the ability to apply strong technical knowledge to routine maintenance and troubleshooting activities. It is also essential to be able to work collaboratively with other functions to support site priorities.The Senior Engineering Technician sits within the Maintenance organization and reports to the Maintenance ManagerWhat You Will DoResponsibilities include, however not limited to:Permit Issuer (30%)Ensure the participation in the permit to work is conducted in accordance with the permit's, and our company's Worksafe NZ's policiesReview / issue necessary permits required for the intended worksCarry out assigned Pre and Post inspections/task observations for permit workEnsure work is completed to a satisfactory state prior to closing off permitsEnsure hazards are identified within the departmentCarry out Monthly Audits and KPI reporting of permits and recordsMaintain engineering staff and Contractor's training and recordsAdminister and operate our company's staff and contractor management systems including but not limited to Totara, ePassCarryout Contractor and visitor inductionsPerform preventative maintenance to the required standards according to set schedules/timelinesPlan own daily tasks in consultation with customer to meet maintenance and production / testing schedulesComplete all assigned preventative maintenance / routine instrument calibration tasks in accordance with SOPsComplete all preventative maintenance / routine calibration documentationProvide on-the-job supervision to Engineering TechniciansTrain other Engineering Technicians in relevant proceduresIdentify and recommend improvements in preventative maintenance proceduresRecommend stock holding levels for critical spares and liaise with suppliers, procuring and managing stock levels for spare partsRecommend suitable intervals for maintenance and maintenance requirements for equipmentEnsure all plant, equipment breakdowns and other corrective maintenance issues are addressed to minimise down-time, cost and product lossRespond to and resolve breakdowns in a timely mannerDocument equipment failuresConduct troubleshooting of processes, equipment and utilitiesUse knowledge and experience to independently solve problemsProvide assistance in product contamination investigationsParticipate in the Engineering call-out roster to provide 24 hour support for the facilityParticipate in plant shutdowns for maintenanceWhat You Must HaveExtensive relevant engineering discipline and prior experience. Industrial, practical experience in either HVAC, Construction, Mechanical, Industrial, building services, manufacturing facility maintenance or experience specifically working in the Pharmaceutical, Process, Dairy or other highly regulated manufacturing environment.Experience with GMP/GLP or ISO 9000 in a production environment would be advantageousMust have working knowledge of Worksafe New Zealand requirements and legislation.Should have experience working with Contractors and or Contracting environment.Proficient written and verbal communication skillsReport and investigation writing skills.Computer Skills: Microsoft productsProject management experience on medium to large sized projects would be advantageous, although not required.What You Can ExpectShift work may be required to minimise equipment downtime.Participation in a call-out roster is required to provide 24 hour support to the facility.Work autonomously whilst being supported, encouraged and being part of a trusted Global Leading Animal Health organisationExposure to upskill and develop in your roleFlexibility and opening doors to other opportunities and skillsetsJoining a collaborative team of likeminded individualsWe are proud to be a company that embraces the value of bringing diverse, talented, and committed people together.
