Join a Trusted Global Leading Animal Health organisation Must be open to shift work The primary responsibility of the Senior Engineering Technician & Permit to Work Issuer is to support the site by: Responsible for all contractor inductions to site, including assessing hazards and risks associated with contractor work and issuing appropriate permits-to-work Performing and documenting maintenance and/or instrument calibration and validation and other works within the post-holder's competence to meet maintenance schedules Ensuring equipment breakdowns are resolved with minimal disruption to the operation using their knowledge and experience to troubleshoot and resolve non-routine problems Providing input and assistance with executing capital projects Ensuring all GMP, corporate and legislative compliance requirements are met Working closely with customers to organise own daily tasks and support production schedules Of critical importance to the successful execution of this role is the ability to apply strong technical knowledge to routine maintenance and troubleshooting activities. It is also essential to be able to work collaboratively with other functions to support site priorities. The Senior Engineering Technician sits within the Maintenance organization and reports to the Maintenance Manager. What You Will Do Responsibilities include, however not limited to: Permit Issuer (30%) Ensure the participation in the permit to work is conducted in accordance with the permit's, and our company's Worksafe NZ's policies Review / issue necessary permits required for the intended works Carry out assigned Pre and Post inspections/task observations for permit work Ensure work is completed to a satisfactory state prior to closing off permits Ensure hazards are identified within the department Carry out Monthly Audits and KPI reporting of permits and records Maintain engineering staff and Contractor's training and records Administer and operate our company's staff and contractor management systems including but not limited to Totara, ePass Carryout Contractor and visitor inductions Perform preventative maintenance to the required standards according to set schedules/timelines Plan own daily tasks in consultation with customer to meet maintenance and production/testing schedules Complete all assigned preventative maintenance/routine instrument calibration tasks in accordance with SOPs Complete all preventative maintenance/routine calibration documentation Provide on-the-job supervision to Engineering Technicians Train other Engineering Technicians in relevant procedures Identify and recommend improvements in preventative maintenance procedures Recommend stock holding levels for critical spares and liaise with suppliers, procuring and managing stock levels for spare parts Recommend suitable intervals for maintenance and maintenance requirements for equipment Ensure all plant, equipment breakdowns and other corrective maintenance issues are addressed to minimise downtime, cost and product loss Respond to and resolve breakdowns in a timely manner Document equipment failures Conduct troubleshooting of processes, equipment and utilities Use knowledge and experience to independently solve problems Provide assistance in product contamination investigations Participate in the Engineering call-out roster to provide 24 hour support for the facility Participate in plant shutdowns for maintenance What You Must Have Extensive relevant engineering discipline and prior experience. Industrial, practical experience in either HVAC, Construction, Mechanical, Industrial, building services, manufacturing facility maintenance or experience specifically working in the Pharmaceutical, Process, Dairy or other highly regulated manufacturing environment. Experience with GMP/GLP or ISO 9000 in a production environment would be advantageous Must have working knowledge of Worksafe New Zealand requirements and legislation. Should have experience working with Contractors and or Contracting environment. Proficient written and verbal communication skills Report and investigation writing skills. Computer Skills: Microsoft products Project management experience on medium to large sized projects would be advantageous, although not required. What You Can Expect Shift work may be required to minimise equipment downtime. Participation in a call-out roster is required to provide 24 hour support to the facility.
