The communities we serve, including councils, central government, iwi, and infrastructure managers, are all tasked with making critical decisions related to the risks associated with climate change.
The Resilience Explorer (REx), an interactive, user-tailored platform for scenario testing and risk-informed decision-making, was developed to support those decision makers.

About the Role As a Senior Engineer at Urban Intelligence, you will lead the engineering team while also actively participating in hands-on development.
Your work will directly support our mission by ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and innovative software solutions for risk, resilience, and climate adaptation.
Key responsibilities include: Technical leadership and team management Software development and architecture Quality assurance and performance optimisation Cross-functional collaboration and innovation Skills & Experience Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience: 7+ years of software engineering experience 2-4 years in a technical leadership role and managing technical projects Proven track record of successful project deliveries Experience managing teams of engineers/developers History of process improvements and team efficiency gains Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices and containerisation (Docker) Experience with SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL and PostGIS Expertise in geospatial data processing, analysis, and visualisation (QGIS/ArcGIS, GDAL, GeoPandas) What we can offer We are a team of 16 people, and while not large, we enjoy the benefits of the fantastic culture that a team this size brings.
