The sites have a range of risk profiles from large municipal landfills through to informal construction waste and soil-fill sites.We are looking for a senior engineer/scientist in the project delivery space to help manage projects on these closed landfills to enable us to continue safeguarding our communities and building resilient associated infrastructure and assets.On any given day you could:assist with operational strategies and plans that identify and mitigate risks on closed landfillscontribute to improvements to internal design standards, asset data and risk data on gas, leachate and settlement/stabilitydeliver specified projects, contracts, programmes of work, and risk analyses for high risk, high complex assetsassist other teams with SME adviceThe capital works programme has a current budget of approximately $13 million per year and growing for works on our closed landfills. These projects are often complex and high-profile, with significant public and mana whenua interest, and technical challenges. You'll be embedded in a team of fellow engineers, project managers and other technical staff, and will work alongside subject matter experts in geotechnical, coastal engineering and contaminated land, who will provide you with the support you need to deliver the best outcomes for Aucklanders.He korero mou: About youWith a Master's degree in civil/environmental engineering or science, you have good experience in environmental engineering, contaminated land or landfill engineering design, asset operation, maintenance and management, including asset conditioning reporting.We will value your project management and delivery skills, and your experience in managing external consultants, contractors, and third party health and safety.You are politically savvy and have strong relationship building skills as you will be engaging with the waste management sector, government departments, mana whenua and other stakeholders on closed landfill management, including managing the risks of climate change.Auckland Council is the largest territorial authority in Australasia providing essential services and facilities to more than 1.6 million people.
