This role will give you an opportunity to improve educational achievement for all learners including Maori and Pacific. If you are enthusiastic and committed to building collaborative relationships and open to new ways to do things differently, we could have a role for you.
In this role, you will work directly with senior leaders, boards of trustees, and Communities of Learning to achieve successful educational outcomes for all students, with a particular focus on realizing the potential of Maori students and Pacific students. You will also be able to influence others with your knowledge, skills, and experience in improving student engagement and achievement.
Salary range: $84,425 - $102,271 per annum + 3% kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience. We also offer:

About you | Mohou ake To be successful in this role, you will have the following experience and capabilities:
A good understanding of the New Zealand education system and of legislation relevant to education.Experience, preferably at a leadership level, in Primary or Secondary education, Maori medium, or school governance.Relationship and stakeholder management experience.The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.The ability to partner with others to support and implement change initiatives.A relevant tertiary qualification.Demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Maori.Demonstrate knowledge and/or experience of working in education with Pacific families and communities.The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct. About our group and team | Matau ropu ake Te Mahau | Te Tai Runga provides leadership and integrated services to the sector and others. This includes services such as learning support and education advice and regulation functions for schools and early learning services.
As a frontline group, we develop and harness existing relationships with communities at the regional and local level through the Directors of Education, including deep relationships with iwi and hapu. Our Directors of Education have the lead role and relationship with early learning, kohanga, school, and kura, and this means they will be across all the services we provide at a local level.
The three Te Mahau takiwa act as a collective to provide Te Tahuhu with real-time understanding and insight of education needs and services. We have a critical role to play in feeding this information into the wider organization and in shaping work that is delivered so that it is relevant to local need.
