Be part of a dedicated, fast-paced team committed to making a positive impact.What you'll be doing / He aha te mahiYou will be responsible for helping ensure Council is well informed when making decisions that will have an impact on tourism, maintains effective relationships across the tourism system, and supports delivery of the district's destination management plan (DMP). More details on the DMP can be found here.There are exciting initiatives that you will help deliver including the Lifetime Value of the Visitor, supporting the industry to boost its margins and leveraging the decarbonisation plan to create economic development opportunities.The role will involve:Relationship Management – developing and maintaining positive, collaborative, long term relationships with the elected members, RTOs, DMO, MBIE, Chambers of Commerce and tourism industry.Programme Management – assisting the Programme Manager in building a work programme for Destination Management projects involving, or impacting on, QLDC.Project Management – ensuring effective delivery, tracking, financial management and control of all project work streams assigned to the role.Project Implementation – delivery of a varied range of tourism related activities that support the successful delivery of destination management, diversification, climate and biodiversity, and other strategic priorities.Kai Tahu and Maori – working in partnership with Kai Tahu to deliver good outcomes for iwi and Maori.Strategy and Advice – contributing to, and reporting on progress of, relevant strategies. Being a trusted source of information on tourism for the organisation, partners, community and elected members.What you'll bring to the role / Ko wai to PukekaYou'll have an affinity to the tourism industry and/or economic development. You bring an understanding of the role of Councils, RTOs, and Economic Development Agencies in adding value to the industry, and the community.
