Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
The purpose of this role is to work alongside others to define the best practices of your craft, whilst working with teams to translate business and customer needs into technology solutions and improving and maintaining existing systems across Waka Kotahi's complex technology estate.
You will be working alongside Site Reliability Engineers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, Technology Leadership, Business Owners, QA Engineers, Vendors and Suppliers. You should be able to select best solutions in cloud environments based on best practices.
We are looking for someone who has excellent analytical ability and is a logical problem solver with clear communication skills. You will work as part of our new chapter model in agile teams and using the latest technologies.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

The ability to understand how solutions are architected and integrated internally and with external third-party software.
The ability to translate business and customer needs into working software applications.
Relationship experience in a complex business and technology environment.
Significant experience in building technical understanding of business problems.
Significant experience in writing automated integration tests.
Proven experience in leading, influencing and building credibility across a range of stakeholders.
Relationship management skills.
Significant experience working with users and customers to deliver successful products.
Significant experience with multiple modern technology methodologies and frameworks.
Significant experience in design thinking and co-design methodologies.
Significant experience with user-centred design processes.
Significant experience with various programming languages.
Significant experience in working with at least one of the major cloud providers, Azure preferred.
Experience in data engineering is a bonus.
Tertiary level qualification in relevant subject or equivalent experience.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Maori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
