Senior Data Engineer (Nz Hybrid/Remote)

Details of the offer

Engineering - Software (Information & Communication Technology) Full time *** Remote working options available - with immediate start *** About the Company For almost 20 years SMX has continuously evolved to remain at the forefront of cybersecurity. With a people-first approach, this evolution has been fueled by a desire to innovate and adopt new ways of working. SMX takes a human-centric approach to cybersecurity, using data to deliver solutions that meet users' needs across organisations and supply chains. The SMX team is driven, collaborative, and pushes for continuous learning. You will be given every opportunity to lead in your role and we are proud of our culture where diversity of thought, ideas, and problem solving are celebrated. The Role As a Senior (or above) Data Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and maintenance of systems and processes required to securely and robustly manage the data life cycle that supports SMX's cybersecurity products, applications, and business use cases. Supporting the SMX vision requires a combination of strategic thinking, technical expertise, and leadership skills. A deep understanding of data architecture and engineering principles is essential along with the ability to collaborate across teams to achieve high-quality data solutions. This will see you: Design and Engineering: Hands-on architecture, design, and engineering of data systems and processes to provide clean and secure data for existing and future use cases. Communication and Collaboration: Maintain open lines of communication with your team and stakeholders to align on data requirements and solutions. Drive the evolution of data engineering practices and standards to enhance efficiency and quality. Think Strategically and Holistically: Consider the broader impact of your work on the entire business and its customers/users, not just from an engineering perspective. Learning and Improvement: Stay comfortable with exploring and learning new technologies and drive continuous improvement. You will work with a stack that currently includes: Postgres, Cosmos, Synapse, Cassandra, Kafka, Clickhouse, Metabase, hosted on Azure. About you You're a technical expert, a strategic thinker with an understanding of business challenges. You have a proven track record in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality data systems and processes enabling actionable business insights and data-driven decision-making by people across the business. As a self-driven individual, you take ownership of your work and inspire others, fostering a collaborative environment that drives success. With a solid foundation in programming, you excel in managing data applications and pipelines using Java or similar languages. Why this role With existing systems and processes ready for innovation, this role offers a unique opportunity to develop and implement robust data systems and processes that drive business growth and shape the future of SMX. What's more, they encourage work-life balance with their remote-first policy supporting 'work from home' environments and have a fantastic team and benefits with an office in Takapuna, Auckland. This is a transformative chance to step into the spotlight and elevate your career - define the next phase of your career journey.
