Korero mo te turanga - About the role We have a newly created Hamilton based Senior role in our Crown Property Group.
This follows change implementation designed to bring us closer to our customers and take on more responsibility for property and land management.
It is an exciting time to join us in supporting the responsible management and enhancement of Crown Land for existing and future generations.
As part of our collaborative team in Crown Property, you'll ensure that portfolios meet legislative and maintenance requirements.
We also work extensively with Iwi on treaty settlement properties.
The Team - Assessment & Acquisition The Assessment & Acquisition team oversees applications such as commercial recreation permits, film permits, easements, access letters, rent reviews, right of renewals, land status validation.
The team are also responsible for Crown land including marine and coastal areas and Treaty acquisitions.
Our team is also responsible for triaging and responding to customer enquiries and plays a critical part in providing the connection between Crown Property and our valued customers.
About you: This is a unique opportunity for an experienced regulatory consenting specialist with a genuine interest in achieving great outcomes for our customers and Crown Property to join our team.
To excel in our 'work engine' team, you'll ideally have a background in land management, combined with experience working in a regulatory environment where you have been responsible for assessing technical applications, making decisions and responding directly to applicants.
You'll utilise your experience to present complex ideas so they can be easily understood.
In this role, you'll work with your peer to lead the operational day-to-day work distribution for our team, including being amongst it and undertaking some of the work yourself.
Our team works at a fast pace – you'll have to be able to keep up!
You will be a support function and escalation point for the team - providing on-the-job coaching and working with the leader to support the teams growth and development.
You will have a comprehensive understanding of system workflows and the importance of business processes.
As we move through new ways of working, your ability to have a flexible approach to your work and collaborate with others to see where and how efficiencies can be made for continuous improvement will be critical.
Your excellent relationship and communication (verbal and written) skills will enable you to be able to navigate difficult conversations with our customers, while maintaining a positive relationship.
No two days are the same and the work is varied, so you'll need resilience, a positive mindset and willingness to be hands on where needed.
He pukenga tou - Skills & Experience * 7-10 years relevant experience in a similar role high-volume environment.
* Experience working on implementation and delivery of regulatory processes; particularly being comfortable navigating policy and legislative settings * Experience analysing a range of information to produce high quality and succinct decisions * Experience in land management * Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement & relationship building skills; * Significant experience in coaching/mentoring members of your team in a way that builds their knowledge, capability and confidence.
* A collaborative self-starter, and lateral thinker, who works with agility whilst keeping relevant legislative & process driven environment top of mind.
* An excellent problem solver able to apply logic to multiple situations and make effective and strong decisions!
* Advanced level of confidence in statutory decision making, identifying risks and communicating with a wide variety of stakeholders * Comfortable with working in Te Ao Maori (Maori world) and an understanding of Tikanga Maori.
* An understanding of government legislation and regulations surrounding land obligations including Resource Management Act 1991, Biosecurity Act 1993, Forests Act 1949 including national policy statements, local and regional authority legislation and regulations would be advantageous The expected appointing range for this role is between $110,000 - $125,000, dependent on experience.
