The Tasman region has activity happening across a variety of consenting areas including subdivisions, natural resources, infrastructure and land use. Our immediate need is for someone in the District consenting team processing land use consents, however all applications will be welcomed.
We are a unitary authority (one of six in the country and the second largest after Auckland), with Tasman being one of the fastest growing regions in the country. Our services are essential to the people in our region and include infrastructure development, community recreational facilities, environmental management, planning, building and other regulatory services.

This is a critical role that provides technical services and helps build competent, pragmatic and informed Planners of the future.
What you'll bring to the role You will be an experienced Planner processing a wide range of resource consent applications and help support and develop junior staff.
As a Senior Consents Planner, you will be required to:
Project manage or process complex resource consent applications. Provide information and expert advice to internal and external stakeholders. Prepare and present evidence at consent hearings and contribute to Environment Court processes including mediation and caucusing. Review work from peers, mentor junior staff and take the lead on team projects. Contribute to policy development and strategic direction. Build positive relationships with applicants, resource users, community groups & iwi. To best succeed in this role, you'll also have:
A tertiary qualification in planning or resource management Strong analytical and decision-making skills necessary to secure best practice planning outcomes Ability to problem solve for local community issues while understanding the bigger picture for Tasman. Excellent skills in understanding, interpreting and applying both legislation and data.
