Te whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora works towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga / wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We have a full-time, permanent opportunity available to join the Central Regional team as a Senior Compliance Officer. This role is critical in delivering compliance activities and providing leadership and mentoring for other compliance kaimahi and technical expertise in relation to the delivery of NPHS strategic agenda for Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) with compliance activities related to Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 1990 and the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012. Working with various key stakeholders, you will monitor targeted and evidence-based regional compliance activity. You will also be responsible for monitoring and maintaining nationally consistent and effective systems/processes for regional delivery and reporting of compliance activity, including the development of national standards of practice. Mou - About you Our ideal candidate is a subject matter expert relevant to this role. You will bring with you previous experience that will help you lead confidently in this position. Relevant experience in a regulator/compliance sector, specific to the job and work demands. Subject matter expertise in regulatory approaches and/or Smokefree and Regulated Products and Sale and Supply of Alcohol legislation. A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification. Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action. Experience in an advisory role, applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice. A commitment to being a good Te Tiriti partner in all your actions, including an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the ability to apply Te Tiriti principles meaningfully in this role. Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
