Mo te turanga | About the role To develop, implement and maintain consistent PIM processes and plans. Provide CDEM technical advice and input to the strategies, policies and plans of our key agency partners, relating to risk reduction and hazard mitigation. Through multiple communications channels and platforms, use marketing to raise awareness of potential risks and hazards in communities. Be able to effectively communicate hazard and risk science to the community. Develop, coordinate and support the implementation of policies, plans and processes that identify hindrances that limit communities' response and recovery from emergencies based on risk exposure/vulnerability. Work with the GEMO Operational Readiness Team (Training and Exercise) to ensure a consistent level of training is provided to volunteers within the community and within Community Response Plans. Available to be included in an on-call 24-hour/7-day GECC Public Information Manager roster. Build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders throughout the Waikato. Mo te tangata | About you Exceptional relationship management and influencing skills. Excellent knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi. Knowledge of matauranga Maori. Good knowledge of Te Ao Maori. Highly developed interpersonal skills. Politically confident and able to understand local and regional government. Mo nga pukenga | Qualifications and experience Experience in communications and marketing Min 7 years of relevant experience. Previous experience leading a team, including the ability to coach and motivate people. Experience in building and managing cross-agency engagement. Experience in working with iwi in partnership contexts. Tertiary qualification in communications, public relations or a related field. IAP2 (International Association for Public Participation) or equivalent. Civil Defence Emergency Management - Integrated Training Framework (ITF): Foundation Intermediate Public Information Management. Mo te tima | About the team You will be working with a broad range of stakeholders across the Waikato Region Civil Defence Emergency Management Group that comprises a consortium of: 11 local authorities, Iwi Emergency services Lifelines utilities Welfare organisations Government departments and non-government organisations operating in the central area of New Zealand's North Island, referred to as the Waikato region. Our risks are as diverse as the region we care for; from the coastlines of the Coromandel Peninsula to the 'super-volcano' in Taupo.
