You'll work closely with various stakeholders, including local iwi, community groups, and government agencies, to ensure our messages resonate and inspire action.Te Wero - The ChallengeWe have an awesome opportunity for an engagement-focused Senior Communications & Engagement Advisor. You will plan and run engagement and consultation activities on behalf of the Community & Engagement Group and support and advise other areas of council to enable them to successfully run their own engagements.Your expertise in engagement and communications will assist other members of the Communications & Engagement team to manage council's public profile, relationships and reputation in line with policy and strategic objectives.You will ideally have:An IAP2 qualification with some experience or at least three years practitioner experience.A tertiary qualification and/or substantial experience in communications or public relations.Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse groups of people and a wide range of stakeholders.Demonstrated skill and experience in event planning, organisation and coordination.High level of understanding of Local Government processes.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Ability to quickly research, assimilate and summarise complex information.Analyse public issues and make politically astute judgements on how council should address or respond to these issues.Ability to develop and implement effective communication and engagement strategies.A knowledge of Far North communities and effective methods for communicating and engaging with these communities.A proven ability to work well under pressure, deal with a number of tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.A willingness to work outside normal office hours as required.A commitment to teamwork and the provision of a high standard of customer services.A desire to get the best outcomes for our community.Far North District Council are proud of our diverse workforce and are committed to maintaining an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected.
