Tenei turanga - About the Role Due to an internal secondment, we are looking for a Senior Communications Advisor to join the team supporting the Kanoa Regional Economic Development & Investment Unit portfolio.

It is an exciting time to be working in regional development! There is strong political commitment to supporting our regions and to investing in and improving New Zealand's regional infrastructure.

The establishment of the $1.2 billion Regional Infrastructure Fund delivers on the Government's promise to address the regional infrastructure deficit. It will help boost the New Zealand economy, increase regional prosperity, and create jobs. This is largely an external communications role which includes supporting Ministerial and project announcements, media responses, and risk and issues management.

You will work closely with regionally based operational teams and Wellington-based policy and reporting teams. Experience working with operational teams and Minister's offices would be hugely beneficial.

Experience as a senior communications professional who is able to think on your feet, work under pressure, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. A proactive, can-do attitude with a high level of initiative, risk awareness, sound judgement, and discretion. Strong experience in delivering high-quality multi-faceted communications products. A well-honed skill in translating complex topics for general audiences. The ability to establish and build strong working relationships with senior managers, staff, and key internal and external stakeholders. Knowledge of the Machinery of Government (Ministers' offices, ministerial and government processes). A good understanding of the New Zealand media environment.
