We are seeking a chef with a passion for innovation, the ability to think creatively, and ensure consistent high quality food. We value working together as one and all contributing to team results. The Hiku kitchen team will offer our guests room service, an a la carte restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and conference and events catering.Responsibilities | Nga haepapaPredominantly supporting our busy evening servicePreparing and cooking excellent quality dishes to brand standards for the restaurant, bar, conferencing and room service on a day to day basisSupport the Head Chef and where appropriate guide junior kitchen team membersControl wastage costs by following efficient preparation methodsEnsuring all food is stored and handled as per current food health and hygiene regulationsOffer flexibility with dietary needs and ensure excellent food hygiene and safety standard are adhered toFoster a great team environment of cooperation and respect between co-workersEnsure that work area, equipment and section is kept clean at all timesOrganising the shift, placing orders, prep completion and supporting the team to ensure the kitchen is always well prepared, clean and hygienic for each shiftAssisting the Head Chef with the general administrative duties running a busy hotel kitchenRequirementsAbout you | Ko koe teneiAvailability to work flexibly across rostered shifts, including weekends, late nights and public holidaysA minimum of 3 years previous experience as a Chef de Partie, in a medium to large kitchenAbility to multi-task, show flexibility, meet deadlines and work under pressureOpen communication skills and the ability to work well within a team as well as individuallyAbility to spot and resolve problems efficientlyCapable of planning and delegating multiple tasksQualified culinary degree/certificate - Preferred, but not essentialAn understanding of culinary trends and a passion to gain new knowledgeExcellent use of various cooking methods, ingredients and equipmentStrong commitment to food safety requirementsIT skills to assist with kitchen administration dutiesCurrent rights to work within NZAt least two years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed below. In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
