Make a difference in Aotearoa New Zealand's education system Work for a progressive world class tertiary education provider The prime purpose of this role is to, as part of a team, leverage data, support business continuity and process improvements, and provide business insights to enable Ara management to make informed driven decisions.
You will provide high quality analysis and advice, lead and advise in data forecasting and analyze trends and themes from diverse data sets and present the findings in easily understood formats.
You will be able to find historical data trends and use the trends to forecast the future while following relevant education sector developments and trends.
Develop an understanding of the business processes within your area of expertise and anticipate the information that managers will need to ensure processes and resources under their control are managed effectively.
Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
Complete quality assurance 'peer reviews' in areas of data expertise/speciality.
Lead and develop our in-house data science capability, contribute toward the development and implementation of the data science roadmap, and work on projects that benefit the analytic and machine learning technologies at Ara Institute of Canterbury.
Provide strategic advice and recommendations to stakeholders and develop and maintain state-of-the-art statistical and machine learning models.
Lead the performance management framework development to enable the organisation to effectively monitor agreed KPIs and progress towards the 2030 vision.
Work cross-functionally and leverage opportunities to integrate AI for business optimisation.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject.
A minimum of 9+ years relevant experience in a Data Science or BI/data analysis role (or similar).
Advanced competence in Excel and proficiency with SQL.
Experience in developing BI reports, ideally in the Microsoft BI environment (Power BI).
Experience in IT development processes, particularly gathering user requirements, liaising with IT developers, and testing.
Familiarity with a range of business data types and associated KPIs/metrics (e.g., financial, HR, health and safety).
Ability to distil complex data from multiple sources into succinct, meaningful reports, including data visualisations.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Demonstrated experience in advanced analytics/statistical techniques such as predictive modelling, machine learning, clustering, natural language processing, and forecasting.
Flexible and responsive to customer needs.
