We are looking for a Senior Associate to join our Tax & Enterprise team within Financial Advisory Services in Tamaki Makaurau / Auckland. This full-time, permanent role requires a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Based in the PwC Tower at Commercial Bay, you'll be joining a team of Tax & Enterprise experts.
As a Senior Associate, your role will be to provide high quality services to PwC clients who are seeking government support for their Research & Development activities, under the direction of the Partners, and such other tasks which you may be reasonably asked to perform from time to time.
Your responsibilities will include:
Working with clients in preparing and reviewing their RDTI and RDTLCO claims across various industries including software, engineering, and pharma.
Preparing and reviewing detailed technical applications to describe the R&D activities clients have undertaken and applying the relevant legislation and guidance documents provided by IR and Callaghan Innovation to correctly identify whether these activities would qualify for both R&D tax credit regimes.
Leading detailed technical interviews with competent professionals across various industries and reviewing client-provided technical documentation as part of preparing the technical applications for submission to IR.
Reviewing the underlying financial data of clients to correctly identify and apportion costs which are considered eligible for both R&D regimes.
Preparing detailed final deliverables to be submitted to clients and IR.
Assisting clients with queries from IR in relation to their R&D claims, including detailed written responses and in-person meetings with IR.
Assisting with implementing and improving AI within a client engagement cycle.
Managing general project management of client engagements, including meeting deadlines, budgeting, and billing processes.
Keeping up to date with industry knowledge as appropriate to develop and maintain a specialist level of expertise.
Developing approved innovative client service offerings by applying knowledge.
Applying a professional mindset, providing technical advice on matters as appropriate.
Effectively applying PwC frameworks, methodologies, and quality standards.
Challenging issues potentially influencing the viability of new work and the potential risk effect on existing clients.
Developing and generating commercially appropriate (risk/reward) recommendations in accordance with PwC's risk management policies and procedures.
Taking responsibility to ensure tasks are completed efficiently, within deadlines, and all available resources were considered.
Communicating and interacting, coordinating work and efforts of external parties and/or colleagues on a One Firm basis.
Nga pukenga kei a koe / Skills and experience
Minimum of 4 years' experience in a large, global Chartered Accountancy firm.
Knowledge of government incentives beyond NZ and the R&D tax incentive.
Experience with R&D activities.
Continual improvement mindset in both own work and wider firm systems and processes.
Strong business acumen and personal ambition.
Effective communication skills with both internal and external parties.
Commitment to providing exceptional, high-quality client service.
Strong knowledge of tax legislation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
A relevant Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Science, or Engineering.
Qualified, or working towards qualification, in a relevant professional accounting body such as, but not limited to, CAANZ, CPA, ACCA, or ICAEW.
