JOB DESCRIPTION
The corporate communications (CC) division at A*STAR showcases the organisation's R&D collaborations and outcomes, maintaining its visibility in a fast-paced media landscape. We communicate how our discoveries translate into meaningful outcomes for the public, industry and scientific community through a dynamic, multi-channel approach.
We are looking for a people-centric, proactive individual to manage a team that develops and executes integrated communications strategies for A*STAR's research entities to publicise "made-in-Singapore" science, technology and innovation. This individual provides supervision and direction to a team, facilitates cross-team collaboration, and builds networks with key internal stakeholders and external partners, to help the team achieve its goals.
The right candidate has qualities required for managing relationships at large and complex organisations like A*STAR: people-centric approach towards work, strong communications and writing skills, critical thinking and proactive attitude, adaptable and able to thrive in a dynamic environment, and problem-solving aptitude.
This role offers opportunities for learning and development in leadership skills and change management, as well as various communication fields, e.g. digital media, branding.
Key Responsibilities
Team leadership: Lead a team that supports publicity and communications for A*STAR's R&D; translate communications strategy into action plans; ensure team alignment.
Relationship building: Build networks with key internal stakeholders and external partners in order to strategically facilitate communications engagements.
Publicity strategy and media engagement: Oversee publicity approach for research entities' stories and development of publicity materials for various platforms, as well as strategic media engagement as part of the front office media relations function.
Strategically implement crisis communications efforts as needed.
This role reports to the Deputy Director or Director, Corporate Communications.
Requirements
Strong presentation and communication skills; good organisational, planning and prioritization skills, strong problem-solving attitude and a team player.
7 to 8 years of professional experience in a similar capacity, preferably with experience managing a team.
Good understanding of the multi-channel media landscape.
Competencies in corporate communications, public relations, digital content creation or journalism are welcome.
