Senior Assistant Director/Assistant Director (Biomedical Science), Intelligence Exchange, Innovation & Enterprise The Innovation & Enterprise (I&E) Group was established in 2020 to strengthen A*STAR's generation of economic and societal impact for Singapore.
I&E oversees A*STAR's industry collaboration, licensing and spin-off efforts.
I&E also plays a national role in R&D grant administration and oversees national platforms such as DxD Hub.
The Intelligence Exchange (IEX) unit is the team in I&E that acts as A*STAR's in-house consultancy.
IEX brings market and technology insights to develop recommendations to inform A*STAR's and national focus areas for: Research Capability & Capacity Building Market & Industry Opportunities The incumbent will perform the following key roles: Generate market intel with a data-driven approach in emerging industry sectors.
This could include: Potential market size, market trends/drivers, value chain analysis, industry receptacles, and competitive landscape in the sectors of interest.
Insights into firm-level competitive analysis, constraints on freedom to operate (FTO), and go-to-market strategies in the geographical markets of interest.
Cultivating a network of key opinion leaders in the sectors of interest.
Monitor/curate market intel in key industry sectors, such as: Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology, such as Cell & Gene Therapy Digital Health Support the formation of strategic A*STAR spin-offs Identify best-in-class IP to form the nuclei for strategic A*STAR spin-offs.
Assess market opportunities that these spin-offs can exploit and develop go-to-market strategies.
Support A*STAR's national grant administration role Provide an independent opinion of a proposal's market & export, commercialization, and/or value capture potential.
Requirements: Degree/experience in Biomedical Sciences or relevant fields; an MBA or Masters/PhD is useful but not necessary.
A strong interest in emerging technologies and startups.
Ability to transverse and be conversant in various industry verticals.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collate, analyze and dissect disparate sources of data.
High learning agility and adaptability.
Effective and thoughtful communicator and presenter; ability to write well.
Excellent time management and ability to multi-task and prioritize work while being meticulous and organized.
A self-starter, independent and resourceful.
Interest and ability to coach and mentor junior staff.
