After launching our Slalom Auckland office in February 2023, we are continuing to grow, and here we have a Senior Architect opportunity for you to start your journey with Slalom_build and help us shape the future.As a Senior Architect in Data Engineering (DE), you will be focusing on deep Engineering and building out the Platform to support data lifecycles and processes. This includes Data Engineering, ML Engineering, Data Modernisation, Platform/Infrastructure Build-out, Automation (DevOps & CI/CD), and relevant development and delivery practices.What You'll Do?Work in small, collaborative teams with minimal oversight and direction to design and deliver innovative solutions on Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform using core cloud data warehouse tools, distributed processing engines, event streaming platforms, and other modern data technologies.Build the next generation of data platforms and work with some of the most forward-thinking organisations in data and analytics.Understand the client's current environment and technical challenges as well as their plans for evolving or creating their future state architecture.Facilitate working design sessions with Slalom and Client technical teams to drive the strategy, architecture, and implementation of a data engineering solution.Effectively describe the pros and cons of your solution design and drive the combined Slalom and client team to a consensus.Break down complex development tasks and be responsible for the timely quality completion of development items assigned to you and the development team reporting to you, ensuring that they support the Technical Solution you designed.Participate in pre-sales activities including helping define an approach to solving a prospect's technical challenges and helping the business development team estimate and plan projects to address those challenges.What will you bring?Broad experience in architecture design, a deep expertise in one or more data engineering technologies, a curious mindset to your client's engagement, a thirst for knowledge, and a hunger for fearless experimentation in new and interesting ways to meet our clients' most pressing data challenges.Self-starter mindset and ability to effectively break down large problems into smaller ones and regularly share your learnings within your projects and in the broader Slalom Build community.Hands-on experience building data platforms and using different programming languages including:Big Data Platforms (Apache Spark/Presto/Amazon EMR)Cloud Data Warehouses (Amazon Redshift/ Snowflake/ Google BigQuery)Object Oriented Coding (Java/Python)Streaming Data Ingestion and Analytics (Amazon Kinesis/ Apache Kafka)About UsSlalom_build forms part of the global consulting company, Slalom.
