This role is located within the Financial Stability Assessment and Strategy Directorate. The Stress Testing team is responsible for delivering a multiyear stress testing programme. Stress tests assess the resilience of regulated entities, and the financial system, to severe but plausible shocks. Stress testing helps build understanding and the capability to monitor and manage risks to financial stability. We need to consider a broad range of risks – credit, insurance, climate, cyber, operational, liquidity, pandemic, seismic - to the financial system.
You will be responsible for contributing to the implementation and delivery of our stress testing work programme. This includes contributing to scenario design, engagement with entities, in-depth desktop modelling and analysis and drafting of technical but accessible reports.
Some of your other responsibilities include:
Preparing high quality written analysis on all matters relating to thematic review work programmes
Presenting and communicating all work in an accessible manner for a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Contributing to expert advice provided to senior decision makers and/or Reserve Bank committees
Identifying and assessing credit and other risks to regulated entities
Contributing to the design, implementation and delivery of stress tests
You're a curious problem solver who enjoys working with a range of different stakeholders. You're a true team player with a keen interest in expanding your stress testing experience.
If you have some of the following, then we want to hear from you:
Previous experience in the fields of banking, insurance, risk management and compliance, auditing or supervision/regulation
A tertiary qualification in finance related disciplines
An understanding of credit risk modelling, and use of quantitative models to assess credit risk in financial institutions, with a strong emphasis on portfolio analysis and stress testing
An understanding of the New Zealand financial system
