EHINZ is contracted by the Ministry of Health and is based in the Centre for Public Health Research (CPHR) within the College of Health, Massey University (Wellington).EHINZ operates five environmental health surveillance systems:Environmental burden of diseaseSocial vulnerability indicatorsThe NZ Congenital Anomalies RegisterThis is a fixed-term contract until June 2026, based on our Wellington Campus. Funding for this position is provided by the Ministry of Health.Salary band for this position is $56,622 - $80,006 based on skills and experience.What you will be doing: The work includes analysing environmental health-related data and producing intelligence for publication and dissemination to our stakeholders and clients, including:Providing technical expertiseManaging specified environmental health domainsLeading and contributing to EHINZ projects in the surveillance of NZ's environmental healthLeading in the strategic development of new environmental health indicatorsContributing to the development of new analytical tools for the surveillance of environmental healthConducting policy-relevant analysis of environmental health issuesProviding technical support and mentoring to junior staffProviding technical expertise to the maintenance of EHINZ domainsAssisting in the maintenance and updating of the EHINZ Guidelines & Analytical StandardsSeeking opportunities for funding from third-party sources for EHINZ projectsLeading and assisting with other EHINZ projects as requiredReporting:Managing the reporting requirements to the EHINZ funderProducing surveillance reports on environmental health topics for dissemination and publicationProducing data and intelligence on environmental health issues for ad-hoc requests from stakeholders and clientsProducing ad-hoc reports on special environmental health topicsEngaging with stakeholders:Maintaining existing and developing new relationships with stakeholders and clientsGiving presentations on the work of EHINZRepresenting EHINZ at technical advisory meetings as requiredTo be successful in this role, you will have:A postgraduate degree in relevant subjects (essential)Knowledge and experience in health, health science, science, epidemiology, geography, or statistics (essential)Excellent written and oral communication skills (essential)Ability to interpret and discuss the results of analyses and research (essential)Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, SAS, or a similar software package (desirable)Demonstrated ability to work in and lead teams (desirable)Experience in project management (desirable)Massey University is committed to being a Tiriti-led organisation.
