Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity Our Regulatory Performance and Insights function provides hindsight, insight, foresight, and oversight to enable the effectiveness, efficiency, resilience, and fairness of the whole of the land transport regulatory system.
The Senior Analyst, Regulatory Intelligence and Risk will lead work across an allocated portfolio as well as work collaboratively with others to ensure the success of the team as a whole. This includes the production of high-quality intelligence products via the engagement and collection of information, undertaking proactive environmental scanning for intelligence, applying best practice analytical and assessment techniques, and assessing the likelihood and consequence of risk, threat, and issues to the Regulatory Land Transport System. The position supports the work required to improve our risk-based regulatory processes and development of risk assessments against the dimensions of regulatory stewardship.
In addition to this, our Senior Analyst will work with the Manager and Principal Analysts to develop our ways of working, supporting others to build their capability (particularly through leadership of Communities of Practice) and being a key point of coordination for information between RPI and other groups within Waka Kotahi, as well as other NZIC participants.

Your expertise in a relevant field, and the application of pragmatic approaches
Your experience in the application of advanced intelligence techniques
Your experience identifying risks, threats, and issues and assessing these
Exceptional strategic advice skills, driving evidence-based decision-making
Your ability to build intentional relationships and work collaboratively with others
A strong track record of delivery from your previous roles
The following would also be an advantage:
A relevant qualification
Knowledge of the land transport system and/or regulation
Knowledge and experience of applying Te Ao Maori principles
It is expected that the holder of this role will be privy to classified information from time to time and understands the New Zealand government's classification system and how to maintain information in line with current policies and requirements.
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Maori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
