About the OmbudsmanThe Chief Ombudsman works with his staff to help New Zealanders in their dealings with government agencies. The focus is on handling complaints against government agencies, undertaking investigations and inspections, and encouraging good administration. The Chief Ombudsman is independent and impartial, with the goal of fairness for all.

Mo te turangaAbout the roleThe role of the Senior Advisor is to work with Principal Advisors and staff across the office to provide strategic advice on matters relating to policy and professional practice. This includes external advice and submissions on matters such as Bills, Cabinet papers and agency policy and procedure, as well as internal advice and support for our operational practice.
He korero mouAbout youTo be successful in this role you will have:
a legal or other relevant tertiary qualification;
experience at a senior level in a legal advisory, complaint handling and investigation, and/or policy development role, ideally in public administration;
excellent writing skills;
strong research and analytical skills including ability to distil key information into reports and recommendations;
exceptional planning, organising and prioritisation skills;
a proven ability to consistently complete assigned tasks on time and to a high standard.
