The Public Health Evaluation and Impact team is responsible for:
Conducting analysis, including complex statistical analysis, to support Public Health impact assessment of Public Health policies, and national intervention programmes. Contributing evidence as set out in the Public Health Strategy Monitoring and Reporting Framework and review of Public Health surveillance priorities. Carrying out and/or commissioning evaluation to understand the impact of Public Health strategy, policy, and programmes in collaboration with the broader ISK team. Developing measures to assess and gauge the effectiveness of Public Health programmes and interventions, and contributing to the Public Health Surveillance priorities. Leading the knowledge translation/dissemination strategy for ISK Report and product generation. Ko ake mahi - What you'll do
As the Senior Advisor, you will provide analysis and high-level advice on key initiatives, projects and mahi within the Public Health Evaluation & Impact team and the broader ISK group. You will provide strategic and technical advice, working alongside other Ministry colleagues.
In this role, you will need to work in a cross-functional capacity across the ISK group and Te Pou Hauora Tumatanui, providing expert advice to improve the quality of delivery of the group's work programme. You will also be required to build and support equity focus across all ISK work programmes and deliverables.
Ko pukenga - What you'll bring
Masters or PhD level qualification or equivalent experience in epidemiology, clinical, health sciences, public health, science, social science or applied research methods and behavioural science. Experience in research/evaluation design and methods. Health sector domain knowledge. Extensive experience in data management, cleaning, and preparation. Demonstrated highly developed statistical skills. Experience with a range of statistical and data tools including R and SQL. Experience using linked data, particularly experience in the Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI) environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collate, interpret, and communicate technical information to a range of audiences. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills. A 'systems-thinking' perspective with an ability to work with both detailed information and at the macro-level, and to work within scope and boundaries. The ability to prioritise and manage multiple and changing priorities, and to respond under urgency as required.
