About the role The Senior Advisor Physical Security is responsible for delivering security surveys, inspections, and assessments for NZDF's capability and infrastructure.
This includes leading the Security Risk Assessment Programme for Defence Security. You will provide complex security risk assessment and physical security advisory services across multiple facets of the organisation to support the protection of NZDF personnel and capabilities from harm.
This role is based in the Wellington CBD at Defence House. Due to the duties of the role, you will be required to work primarily in the office, but you will have the ability to work from home on occasion.

Nga pukenga me nga wheako Skills and Experience We're looking for an experienced security professional with deep subject matter expertise relating to the delivery of security risk assessments.
You will have highly developed verbal and written skills, with strengths in adapting your communication style to suit a variety of audiences within a complex organisation to ensure understanding. You will be focused on engagement and trust building, and be able to influence and negotiate with others.
Key skills and experience you'll bring to this role include:
Robust skills in research & analysis.
Proven relationship management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Risk assessment delivery.
Development & delivery of effective briefings.
Ideally, you will bring an understanding of Defence, Security, Intelligence or International Affairs sectors within New Zealand Government.
This role requires frequent domestic and international travel, including overnight stays at NZDF camps and bases. You will need to have a Class 1 Full Driver's Licence due to the nature of the role and requirement for travel.

Here's what you need to know: Higher Level Security Clearance You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
