Mo tenei turana mahi | About this roleAs a Senior Media Advisor, you will report to the Media Engagement Manager and deliver high-quality media engagement to enhance our reputation with the public, media, and other stakeholders.You will use proactive and multi-channel strategies to engage with stories and media issues that are relevant and impactful. You will collaborate with people across the organisation to create proactive stories that matter and handle media issues.The best part is there are plenty of amazing stories to tell. ACC's work covers everything from helping injured people recover, to supporting programmes to prevent violence against women and children in their homes, and fund rescue helicopters across the country to provide fast medical care. We help over 14,000 people every day.To find out more about the work we do, take a look at our ACC Newsroom:ACC NewsroomWhat we are looking forYou will be a natural storyteller with the ability to find stories and produce content for news media and ACC's media channels that tells the ACC story. You have an excellent understanding of what stories work for the media and are comfortable working with the media to maximise their reach and impact. You will also confidently provide strategic and practical guidance on media planning and issues management and respond to media inquiries promptly and professionally. You will work with all levels of the business and explain complex issues to different audiences. You will also be ready to join a media phone team on a rostered basis.In this role, you will need:Experience working as a journalist, media or communications advisorPlenty of energy and a desire to be innovative in your proactive storytellingStrong skills in writing and verbal communication, and ability to develop content using different writing styles for the news media and ACC's social media channelsAble to maximise potential media opportunities and work to tight deadlinesUnderstanding of digital news media environment engagement strategies and toolsGood risk radar and experience developing media strategies and providing issues management adviceConnections and relationships with people in the national mediaUnderstanding of tikanga Maori (Maori customs) and te ao Maori (the Maori world) and be able to apply this lens to their work.A full position description for this role can be found here.Ko wai matou | Our OrganisationOur purpose at ACC is to improve lives every day.
