Te Haeata/The Opportunity The Pacific Justice Sector Programme (PJSP) is a development initiative supported by New Zealand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) and the Ministry of Justice in Aotearoa/ New Zealand.
The PJSP provides leadership development, training and tools and support for judicial officers, court staff and legal advocates across 15 Pacific nations.
The PJSP has an enhanced women and justice programme named Ina'ilau.
Ina'ilau refers to a well-known Samoan proverb – "E au le Ina'ilau a Tama'ita'i" – loosely translated to Tama'ita'i (Women, Wahine) can do anything, be whatever they want to be, aspire to any heights, and make it.
It is often used to identify strong-hearted, dedicated women who aspire to lead in their communities.
Ina'ilau focuses on improving access to justice for women and children in the Pacific.
This is achieved specifically by supporting women and children in the Pacific to have greater practical access to justice through formal and community-based justice systems, supporting formal and community-based Pacific justice sector actors to have increased capacity and capability to address and support the rights of women and children effectively and sustainably, and empowering women in Pacific justice sectors through professional development opportunities to develop leadership skills and to encourage a greater presence in judicial leadership roles.
The US Department of State has provided financial support for Ina'ilau.
The Senior Advisor Ina'ilau will support the Director PJSP, and work with the Programme Lead, Ina'ilau, and the Advisor, Ina'ilau, to support the rollout of Ina'ilau activities across a number of countries in the Pacific.
The position will lead partner engagement within agreed Ina'ilau countries and be responsible for leading the monitoring and evaluation of the overall Ina'ilau programme.
Responsibilities include supporting a culture that focusses on collaboration, integrity, effectiveness, continual learning and mana enhancement to create enduring outcomes that serve and empower our Pacific partners.
Travel to the Pacific may need to occur to help oversee and support programme activities as needed.
