Senior Advisor

At the Funding Department of Internal Affairs, we are seeking a Senior Advisor for the Strategic Review of Funding. This is a fixed-term, full-time position located in Wellington, with a salary range of $81,416 - $109,315.

The Senior Advisor will join our Nga Ringa Rautaki | Strategic Partnerships and Programmes Team, focusing on robust policy advice and Te Ao Maori critical analysis skills. This role is positioned within a team that takes pride in their work and values contributing to community, hapu, and Iwi aspirations.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide policy advice with a strong focus on Te Ao Maori.
Develop and maintain relationships with Maori, Pacific peoples, and other ethnic communities.
Deliver programme/business improvement initiatives.
Provide advice to Ministers.
Minimum Requirements:
Capability and confidence within te reo Maori me ona tikanga.
Strong understanding of Te Tiriti O Waitangi and Maori-Crown relationships.
Experience in Te Tiriti o Waitangi-based practice and policy development.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience writing for senior stakeholders.
Experience working with hapu, iwi, hapori Maori, and communities.
Ability to plan, organise, and manage work effectively to meet multiple deadlines.
Ability to adapt rapidly in a fast-paced and changing environment.
