Tenei turanga - About the Role: MBIE is looking for a Senior Advisor with excellent relationship building skills to work closely with the National Manager - Emergency Management (Auckland) on an ambitious work programme.
Your ability to establish positive, consultative style working relationships with people at all levels is a key success factor for this role. Together with managers and senior leaders, you'll facilitate the process of developing, implementing and embedding the Ministry's incident and emergency management arrangements.
Once in place, you'll be involved in testing arrangements with the business groups to ensure that plans have been properly socialised and referred to in response to potential incidents. Being able to critically assess and provide credible suggestions is key in this element of the role. The ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and build people capability to respond is also important.
Nga pukenga me nga wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required Extensive experience in emergency and incident management and business continuity planning including certification and/or training in this area e.g. CBCI, CIMS training, EM qualification
Superior relationship management, influencing and problem resolution skills
Sound understanding of New Zealand's National Security System
Demonstrable experience of managing significant programmes of work
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to think analytically about issues and express ideas clearly
Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work at all levels within the organisation including with senior management
Ability to balance working in a team environment with the need to operate independently and with autonomy when necessary
Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
Ability to obtain and maintain a national security clearance at Secret level
