As a Senior Advisor, Conservation Planning Improvement Advisor reporting to our Programme Lead, your role will be to develop clear operating parameters for how DOC develops and reviews statutory planning documents, giving effect to Treaty of Waitangi principles.
This is a key strategic improvement priority for DOC.
Collaboration is key in this role, so you'll work alongside cross-functional teams within DOC, Treaty partners, external stakeholders, and the Ministers' office.
You'll collaborate with them to address systemic challenges in DOC's planning system and develop strategies to implement sustainable changes.
The work will give you the opportunity to:
Engage with Treaty partners to understand their aspirations for the form and function of statutory planning documentsUtilise your skills in analysis, options development and implementationCollaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders, including provision of advice and recommendations to senior leaders.With proven experience navigating complex programmes of work, you'll be comfortable working under pressure and at pace, and thrive on championing innovative, fresh ideas to long-standing issues.
Key Responsibilities: Contribute to system change initiativesDevelop consistent systems, policies, and guidelinesEngagement with key stakeholders - Treaty Partners and Ministers officeMinimum Requirements: Knowledge of environmental planning disciplines, legislation or policy developmentA sound working knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Experience working with Treaty partners is beneficialProven problem-solving and strong analytical skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated through experience such as leading engagements, and representing or coordinating cross-agency initiatives.Experience developing and implementing improvements and innovationsPlease note we are open to external secondments for this role.

The salary range for this position is $92,450 - $116,985 with the starting salary based on the successful applicant's level of relevant skills and experience.
