Senior Adviser, Strategy

Details of the offer

Full time
4% KiwiSaver, Full Health & Life Insurance
A great place to work. With great work to do.
Ours is a meaningful and impactful role, as a kaitiaki of the financial services in Aotearoa. We oversee a market that does right by everyone, ensuring better outcomes for all New Zealanders. Our role as a kaitiaki is brought to life by our values; Look to the Horizon, Help the Team Work, Make the Calls and Open Hearts, Open Minds.
Our Strategy & Planning team is pivotal in setting FMA's strategic objectives and operational priorities.
As a Senior Adviser in the Strategy team, you will support the work programme of the team in developing an enterprise-wide strategy. You will work closely with the Manager, Strategy to support FMA's journey towards becoming an even more effective regulator that delivers outcomes that matter to consumers and markets.
You will support the further development of FMA's regulatory approach and how we report on progress against our strategic objectives to the Board. You'll also get opportunities to lead elements of the team's work programme, which includes projects like environment scanning (to identify global and local developments that might impact delivery of the FMA's objectives). So, if you are after a role that continues to develop your skills, this could be it.
Another bonus is the strategy team works in partnership across the business, so you'll be in a high-profile role with plenty of scope to influence and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
You will need to demonstrate experience with (or at least an understanding of) development, implementation and management of enterprise strategies, along with a solid understanding of regulatory environments. Experience in financial services would be welcome but is by no means essential.
You will be a good communicator and natural collaborator who is confident building relationships with different teams. You will have an innate curiosity to understand how things work and an analytical and creative approach to problem solving. You will be an effective planner, but also comfortable to pivot when necessary and try new ways of doing things.
We offer some great benefits including a 4% KiwiSaver contribution, health and life insurance cover, paid leave over the Christmas period, a generous $1,500 refer a friend bonus as well as an ability to swap public holiday leave with other days that mean more to you. Additionally, we have exceptional learning and development opportunities including access to leadership development, technical training, and external coaching.
At the FMA we're committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic self to work each day. We offer a range of wellness and social activities designed to support our people with aspects of their personal and professional lives and genuinely connect with their colleagues.
This role can be based in either our Auckland or Wellington office and we encourage flexible working.

Financial Markets Authority We lead better, fairer outcomes for investors, customers and New Zealanders. Our innovative people drive the evolution of the financial sector, influencing the industry and effecting positive change.
Our main vision is to promote and facilitate the development of fair, efficient and transparent financial markets. As a risk-based conduct regulator, we focus our resources on conduct that we think poses the most significant risk to achieving this objective.
At the FMA, the work you do has a significant impact.
