The objective of this important mahi is to work with the University community and mana whenua, to implement the values, expectations, and desired norms of behaviour that will underpin our work as a university community and help us to become a truly te Tiriti led organisation.This position will be a senior leader of the Compass Project, providing leadership across a series of work streams to advance mana tangata, ensuring a safe environment where all staff are supported to thrive as members of our university community.In this role, you will be an essential component of the wider project, advancing te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity initiatives, leading organisational change, and staff development efforts. Your work will make a direct impact on how we operate as an organisation, upholding our commitment to te Tiriti, and meeting the goals articulated in the Vision 2040 Strategy._Ka pukeka me ka wheako / Skills and experience_To be successful in this role, your background should contain previous experience working with senior and executive level leadership, translating strategy into action, influencing organisational practice and contributing to transformative change.You should have a demonstrated commitment to and expertise in te Tiriti o Waitangi, with an excellent understanding of the tertiary education sector. You will be the type of person who understands and is comfortable with Te Ao Maori, with the mana to lead and influence others as we embark on this important culture change project.The project is long-term and stretches across the entire University. As a result, you should be comfortable engaging with varied and diverse groups, with the ability to remain calm in high pressure situations. You will be an expert in consultation, planning and collaborating with a wide range of people, helping them to reach agreement and working to influence change.Ideally, you will have knowledge of te reo Maori me ona tikanga, with an advanced and practical knowledge of pro-equity strategies and frameworks of anti-racism, diversity and inclusion._Mo te tima / About our Team_This position is a senior leadership role within the University-wide Compass Project, led by the Vice-Chancellor. The project is jointly chaired by Professor Michelle Thompson-Fawcett and Professor Peter Crampton whom the role reports to on a day-to-day basis.This group is empowered by the Vice-Chancellor, with a clear mandate to advance the development and delivery of this transformational culture project, implementing changes aimed at creating an inclusive and respectful environment, addressing already identified cultural issues.
