Job Title: Senior Adviser Exports Process
Role type: Fixed Term (6 Months)

Salary Range, GSR D: $85,302 - $132,427 depending on skills and experience
Korero mo te turanga - About the role
The Senior Adviser Export Process will join a team of technical professionals who are developing detailed animal welfare standards for the export of live animals from New Zealand. You will focus on the development and implementation of systems to review and continuously improve animal welfare conditions across the export system and provide technical expertise to the team.
You will set up effective work programme management processes as part of MPI's Livestock Export Review. This will include procedures to assist the team manager to plan, review, monitor, and report on the programme.
In this role, you will need to work collaboratively across MPI and engage effectively with exporters and associated organisations. Animal export issues can be complex; you will need to exercise good judgement and have practical problem-solving skills when working within this regulatory environment.
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and attributes:
A qualification in a relevant subject or veterinary qualification
Experience in an animal health or animal welfare related field
Recent knowledge and involvement in animal welfare or health programmes
At least 3 years' experience in an operational department within a large organisation
Experience in managing relationships and consultation with an assortment of external stakeholders
Self-motivated with good organisational skills, able to set priorities and meet deadlines
Well-developed written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Proven ability to use initiative and persevere in order to perform in high-pressure situations

The Animal Exports team sits in the Animal Health & Welfare Directorate of the Agriculture and Investment Services Branch of the Ministry for Primary Industries. The Animal Exports team is responsible for developing and reviewing export standards for live animals, including the export zoosanitary certification. The team also manages approvals of Animal Welfare Export Certificates for livestock shipments and liaises with export stakeholders.
