Our mainstream primary schools are seeking versatile and dedicated individuals who are ready to make a positive impact in the classroom to support and help tailor the provision for pupils with special educational needs (SEN).
About the Role:
As a SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils with diverse learning, behavioural and emotional needs. You will deliver tailored support to the individual needs of the pupils, fostering an inclusive learning environment so that each pupil can access the learning in a way that is best for them. With your expertise in SEN education, you will empower students to reach their full potential, both in their learning and in their personal and social development. Any previous experience working with children who are non-verbal would be incredibly beneficial, including having experience using Makaton or sign language.
Key Responsibilities: Provide individualised support and guidance to students on a 1:1 basis, promoting their academic and personal developmentCollaborate with colleagues and external professionals to create support plans for pupilsFoster positive relationships with students, parents, and carers, promoting effective communication and collaborationBeing proactive and adaptable, taking into account the needs of the individual and tailoring support and strategies accordinglyAdapt strategies according to the needs of the pupils, e.g., using effective non-verbal communication skillsRequirements: Previous experience working with students with SEN in a Primary school settingStrong understanding of different SEN and effective strategies for supporting studentsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carersDedication to promoting inclusion and equality in educationHow to Apply:
