General Function: Provides prompt and friendly service to customers and assists them when necessary. Operates a cash register and performs corresponding duties. Packages products, works with drive-up and/or carry-out, and replenishes products as needed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions.Greets customers in a friendly manner.Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and loading/unloading heavy items.Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly service.Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction.Assists customers with their orders at the self-checkout lanes.Educates customers on how to use the equipment.Performs product scanning and processing of customer orders accurately and efficiently.Ensures proper handling of all forms of tender and coupons.Operates cash register accurately and scans products as needed.Redeems promotional coupons, food stamps, WIC checks, and issues receipts.Stocks, faces, rotates merchandise, and maintains store cleanliness.Communicates clearly on the intercom or telephone system.Keeps register area clean and ensures adequate supplies.Reports to work when scheduled and on time.Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: Assists store management as required.Knows code dates on perishable items.Changes register tape and ribbons as necessary.Performs other job-related duties as required.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics: Ability to carry out detailed instructions; deal with concrete variables.Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.Education and Experience: No education or experience requirements.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently.Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet.Must be able to perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, and lifting.Working Conditions: This position is frequently exposed to temperature extremes and possible dampness. It is a fast-paced work environment.
