The Technology Solutions group is responsible for the enhancement and maintenance of all OSPRI applications and infrastructure, including the management of vendors to deliver the required services to support OSPRI enterprise and technology solutions required for national animal disease management.
This group will also have spatial analysis and reporting responsibilities to support the wider OSPRI organisation.
The newly created SecOps Manager is a key member of the IT Management Team, currently with no direct reports, and focuses on establishing a dedicated, long-term strategy for addressing security needs and building a strong Security Operations (SecOps) practice. The SecOps manager will be tackling current security challenges, setting and managing a comprehensive long-term security strategy.
This position is responsible for the establishment of a proactive, sustainable security capability that aligns with business goals and adapts to future needs, ultimately enhancing OSPRI's security posture.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the implementation of proactive security measures, continuously monitoring OSPRI infrastructure to detect and mitigate threats, thereby reducing the risk of data breaches and cyberattacks. Overseeing security incident response processes, the SecOps Manager will ensure that security incidents are addressed quickly and effectively.
This minimises downtime and data loss, while streamlining recovery efforts to restore operations. Act as a central point of accountability for all security-related activities, providing a structured approach to managing and developing security policies, standards, compliance requirements, and regulatory obligations.
This centralisation ensures consistency in security practices across OSPRI. Be responsible for reporting and insights relating to OSPRI's security posture, operational performance, and risk management.
These reports ensure transparency, driving improvements, and supporting decision-making. Responsibility for driving security awareness initiatives, ensuring all employees understand their role in protecting OSPRI's technology and information assets. Development and implementation of regular security training programs to help reinforce a security culture and reduce the likelihood of human error-related incidents. Optimise security operations investments, ensuring that funds are spent on critical areas to reduce the potential costs associated with security incidents. Ensure OSPRI security practices are updated to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements, reducing the risk of compliance-related penalties and protecting OSPRI's reputation. Essential Skills and Experience: At least 5 years experience in a security operations management role. Proven experience working with security frameworks like NZISM, NIST and CERT-NZ CC. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (both orally and in writing) with a wide range of people in different situations to explain, persuade, convince, and influence others. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and relationship-building skills, with the ability to convey complex information to various audiences. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. In-depth knowledge of security protocols and procedures. Experience with security technologies and systems. Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies. High level of integrity and attention to detail. Experience conducting risk assessments and security.
