You will contribute to the security and protective service of NZDF staff and visitors covering the Wellington Region. You will maintain physical security and safety and assist with emergency and evacuation procedures.
This role has lots of variety and opportunities for development. Rotate through reception, patrols, control room duties and other duties while on shift.
We operate a rotating four on/four off roster, which includes day and night shifts at our Upper Hutt based location. This role may also be required to support other NZDF locations in the Wellington region.
You will:
Undergo ongoing training to improve and update standards and professionalism.
Recognise, report on and take appropriate action on incidents, risks, breaches and suspicious behaviour.
Be appropriately assertive and directive, de-escalate situations.
Use your relationship management and communication skills to deal with staff, visitors and others in a helpful and positive way.
The total remuneration for this role is between $71,730 and $83,684 inclusive of 4% super contribution and salary loading payment. Where we appoint within this range is based on skills and experience; however, we are willing to negotiate the salary with the right candidate.

Ideally, you will have prior experience in operational security, customer service and be familiar with shift work. If you are a motivated individual, open to learning new things and would like to kick start a career in protective security, this is a great opportunity!
You will also need:
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
A full New Zealand Drivers Licence (Class 1).
A good degree of physical fitness.
Confidence using computers and familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to de-escalate situations and deal with a variety of people.
Previous experience in CCTV, control room monitoring and use of security related databases and equipment is advantageous (desired but not essential).

Higher Level Security Clearance
You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
