You will contribute to the security and protective service of NZDF staff and visitors. You will maintain physical security and safety and assist with emergency and evacuation procedures for the NZDF based at Devonport Naval Base.
You will:
Undergo ongoing training to improve and update standards and professionalism.
Recognise, report on and take appropriate action on incidents, risks, breaches and suspicious behaviour.
Be appropriately assertive and directive, de-escalate situations.
Use your relationship management and communication skills to deal with staff, visitors and others in a helpful and positive way.
This role operates on a rotating four on/four off roster, which includes day and night shifts. The salary for this role is between $71,730 and $83,684 inclusive of 4% super contribution and salary loading payment. Where we appoint within this range is based on skills and experience; however, we are willing to negotiate the salary with the right candidate.

Ideally, you will have prior experience in operational security and be familiar with shift work.
Desired skills:
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
A good degree of physical fitness.
Confidence using computers and familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to de-escalate situations and deal with a variety of people.
Previous experience in CCTV, control room monitoring and use of security-related databases and equipment is advantageous (desired but not essential).

You must be a New Zealand citizen or hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
