Security Advisory RoleEnsuring security risk and compliance remain at the heart of our approach to digital delivery.
Lead & conduct system-level risk assessments, working in an Agile organization & culture. May be based in Wellington, Auckland, Hamilton or Palmerston North.
Facilitate good governance, risk & compliance activities that are engrained in our ways of working, and work towards "Secure by Design" principles consistent with Waka Kotahi's strategic objectives.
Te Whiwhinga mahi - The OpportunityThe purpose of this role is to help support the redefinition of the Agency's approach to Security Governance, Security Risk Management, and Compliance activities.
By working across application, product, and platform teams - and complex project initiatives, this role is designed to provide advisory support to Digital's Agile Delivery teams, ensuring industry good practices are followed in how we define, design, deliver & operate our systems.
We are looking for a credible and dependable subject matter expert accustomed to supporting the definition, design, risk analysis, and delivery phases of prioritized areas within Digital's portfolio, ensuring they are delivered in accordance with the compliance/assurance obligations as determined by the CISO.
You will collaborate with senior management and business owners across NZTA Waka Kotahi to enable secure digital outcomes.
You will lead and conduct system-level risk assessments to inform ongoing design, development adoption & compliance activities, addressing security requirements in all areas including governance, information, personnel, and physical security domains.
About You - Knowledge and ExperienceA demonstrable understanding of the Public Sector's Risk and Compliance environment, including experience practicing as a Security Advisor/Architect or Consultant in complex digitally intensive environments.An understanding of how to enable secure outcomes in complex technology programmes, with practical experience in the application of the Government's Protective Security Requirements (including NZISM).Ability to autonomously lead the identification of Security risks, model/define impacts, and provide advice regarding mitigations for the NZTA's Security Environment - with a working understanding of ISO31000.Experience providing Senior Leadership security advice relating to technical areas/concepts, balancing technical skills alongside an understanding of foundational Governance, Risk & Compliance in practice.Proven experience in the development and application of security policies and procedures in technology-intensive environments and applying systems thinking techniques to navigate complex delivery landscapes.Track record of defining and reviewing against Security Requirements during and throughout the procurement process lifecycle, with comfort and/or willingness to develop literacy in commercial and procurement (related to Security).Demonstrable track record of working within Agile organizational structures, processes, and cultures.Experience in Project management is a distinct advantage, with the ability to identify key outputs and capability to achieve these on time and to quality.Demonstrable understanding of NZISM and its key concepts.Familiarity with the NZ Protective Security Requirements (PSR).Working knowledge of PCI-DSS.Familiarity with the NZ Security Classification System.QualificationsA degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.Relevant certified qualifications desirable - such as SABSA, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Maori.
